At EERC’s advanced carbon management facilities, Origen will demonstrate its integrated limestone-based direct air capture (“DAC") solution.

The project is expected to remove up to 50,000 tonnes of carbon per year. The potential offtake includes up to $3 million in advanced carbon removal credits.

Origen has been named by XPRIZE as one of the most promising carbon removal companies in the world.  The XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition revealed a Top 100 list that recognizes the leading innovators in the space. The XPRIZE mission is to build a strong new industry of carbon removal companies that can collectively “Get to Gigatonne-Scale”.  Origen is proud to be one of 9 runner-ups to the Top 20 in the competition, validating the recent significant progress and potential of our limestone-based direct-air-capture (DAC) technology.

Origen is one of several technologies included in a team co-led by Berkeley Lab ('CALDAC'), conducting feasibility studies on an air capture hub in California that prioritizes needs of surrounding communities.
